Oh, Nano Banana. The greatest AI image tool. Here are 12 ways I use it to make ads:

01. Change Hairstyle

Prompt: Mess up her hair so it looks like a full-on bad hair day: Uneven volume, frizzy strands, pieces sticking out in random directions and covering her face.

02. Expand Frame

Prompt: Zoom out to reveal her legs and more of the room she was painted in, while keeping the same original painting style.

03. Change Outfits

Prompt: Replace her dress with pink cozy pajamas covered in cute cat illustrations.

Replace her shoes with warm, furry slippers featuring a quilted texture.

04. Create Mockups

Prompt: Show the ad printed on a giant wall mural in Berlin. The mural covers the entire side of a building, with natural city lighting and realistic wall texture. Add a few Berlin street elements like bikes, graffiti, and a tram.

05. Switch Angles

Prompt: The woman is seated in the same chair, but she is turned away from the viewer, facing the landscape.

We only see her face turning toward us, her back, and the back of the chair.

06. Add Elements

Prompt: Add six more hands to this woman so she has eight in total. Six of the hands should be waving.

All eight hands should look realistic, match her skin tone, and blend seamlessly with the original painting style.

07. Change Expression

Prompt: Make her look like she’s just realized she made a big mistake.

08. Remove Things

Prompt: Remove the woman from the painting so only the empty chair and background remain.

09. Change Age

Prompt: Make her look 90 years old.

10. Change Style

Prompt: Turn this painting into an unfinished pencil sketch.

11. Change Setting

Prompt: Change the setting so she’s sitting on a plane.

12. Change Lighting

Prompt: Make the scene dark, like it’s the middle of the night, and light her face with a soft blue glow, similar to the gentle light from a laptop.

Keep the rest of the environment dim so the blue light stands out.

Bonus: Place Products

For this one, I tried a different prompting technique:

Instead of a simple text prompt, I added another reference image and annotations on the original image.

This helps me get more precise results or edit a few elements at once.

Read in your browser↗ Hey! Making ads for tech products is hard because product screenshots are usually boring. Great UX/UI, terrible ad hook. Volkswagen had a similar problem. Their cars had tons of unique features, but explaining them meant showing boring illustrations. Now, showing the actual features is very important – just later in the funnel. An ad should grab attention and deliver one simple message, not cover the entire pitch. So they tried a different creative strategy... Analogy...

Step 1: Inspiration 🛠️ TikTok (free) and Perplexity ($20/mo) A few months ago, I saw a TikTok of a woman working on her laptop in the ocean. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it, but I knew it was a fantastic visual hook, so I created this little mood board. Then, while doing research for HiBob’s payroll feature launch, I saw this Reddit comment....
